STAAD.Pro revolves around delivering a robust structural analysis and design platform for civil and structural engineers to model, analyze, and design structures with accuracy and efficiency. Developed by Bentley Systems, STAAD.Pro is engineered to streamline the structural engineering process by integrating advanced computational tools with user-friendly interfaces, supporting a wide range of materials and international design codes. Its core objectives include improving structural integrity, enhancing analytical precision, and optimizing the design workflow from concept to construction documentation.
It aims to replace manual calculations and less integrated software with a powerful model-based solution that can handle both simple and complex structural systems. Engineers can create accurate 3D models of buildings, bridges, towers, industrial structures, and more, and apply a variety of static, dynamic, and load combinations to evaluate real-world performance. The software’s analysis engine supports linear, nonlinear, buckling, response spectrum, and time history analyses, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of structural behavior under diverse conditions. A key objective of this software is to enable engineers to make informed design decisions while complying with multiple international codes, such as AISC, Eurocode, IS(Indian Standards), and BS standards. It supports the design of steel, concrete, timber, and aluminum structures, automatically optimizing member sizes and reinforcement layouts based on the specified load conditions. Additionally, its parametric modeling and scripting capabilities offer high levels of customization and automation, saving time and minimizing human error.
