Course objective
This Course offers a Forward-thinking, In-depth Education in City Information Modeling (CIM) integrated with Building Information Modeling (BIM), designed for professionals aiming to master the Digital representation, Analysis, and Simulation of entire Urban environments. The course merges Architectural, Engineering, Environmental, and Infrastructural Datasets into a holistic city model to plan, manage, and simulate smart, sustainable urban development using leading tools like Autodesk Infra-Works, Civil 3D, Revit, Navisworks, BIM 360/ACC, and GIS platforms.
Participants will learn how to integrate Building-scale BIM data with City-Scale GIS and Infrastructure models to deliver intelligent urban planning, transportation modeling, energy simulations, and disaster resilience frameworks. The course focuses on how digital twins of cities are developed to manage everything from zoning, utilities, traffic, and underground assets to long-term sustainability goals.
Through real-world case studies and hands-on labs, students will gain the technical ability to create, simulate, visualize, and Manage Urban-Scale 3D Models, aligning civil infrastructure with building data in a shared Common Data Environment (CDE). Learners will understand how CIM with BIM supports smart city initiatives, IoT integration, energy-efficiency strategies, flood analysis, stakeholder collaboration, and digital permit processing.
By the end of the course, professionals will be empowered to take leading roles in Urban Digitization Projects, Smart Infrastructure Development, and Policy-Driven City Planning, using CIM+BIM strategies to improve quality of life, operational efficiency, and environmental impact at a metropolitan scale.
