Course objective
This immersive and industry-forward training program is focused on empowering architects, engineers, facility managers, and BIM professionals to design, simulate, and manage smart buildings using Autodesk Forma and Autodesk Tandem. The course provides a deep integration of data-rich BIM modeling, digital twin technology, and early-stage planning, preparing learners to lead projects that respond dynamically to user needs, environmental conditions, and operational efficiency.
The primary objective of the course is to teach participants how to conceptualize smart, responsive buildings using Autodesk Forma for early-phase massing, energy performance, solar access, and pedestrian analysis—then transition that data seamlessly into Autodesk Tandem to create operational digital twins. This transition enables real-time facility management, predictive maintenance, occupant comfort tracking, and integration with IoT (Internet of Things) systems.
Through this course, learners will gain hands-on experience in creating intelligent design models, generating sensor-driven simulations, and maintaining centralized digital twins that persist through design, construction, and into building operations. Participants will develop fluency in smart asset tagging, space utilization tracking, energy analytics, and lifecycle planning, all within a BIM 360/ACC-compatible environment. The training blends advanced BIM processes, cloud-based collaboration, and smart data workflows aligned with ISO 19650, COBie, and IFC standards.
This course prepares students to tackle real-world challenges of net-zero design, climate resilience, digital twin asset lifecycle modeling, and smart city planning, making them key players in the evolving Smart Built Environment industry.
