Course objective
This course is designed to equip civil and structural engineering professionals with advanced, industry-ready skills in Building Information Modeling (BIM) for structural systems using Tekla Structures and Tekla Structural Designer. The primary objective is to enable learners to model, analyze, design, and detail complex concrete and steel structures with high accuracy, automation, and integration into BIM workflows across architectural, MEP, and construction teams.
Participants will gain hands-on experience in developing intelligent, constructible 3D models, automating reinforcement detailing, generating accurate shop drawings and fabrication data, and performing structural analysis and design in compliance with international codes. The course emphasizes collaborative data exchange, clash-free design validation, and fabrication-level documentation using real-world projects.
Students will also be prepared to optimize structural workflows, minimize design errors, and ensure seamless collaboration from concept to site execution by leveraging Tekla’s open BIM capabilities, integration with analysis engines, and interoperability with tools like Revit, Navisworks, and Trimble Connect. By the end of the course, learners will be fully capable of leading BIM-enabled structural design and detailing operations in infrastructure, commercial, and industrial construction sectors.
